Northshore Trail

Northshore runs east–west along the lake and is ridden as two halves. The east side (Loops 1–4) starts from the Murrell Park area with the trail's faster, flowing XC riding; the west side (Loops 5–7) continues toward Twin Coves and carries most of the trail's technical reputation. Several parking areas and trail entrances sit along the length of the trail, so you can start at either end or drop in partway — the trail crosses the main park road in a few places, so watch for traffic at the crossings.

The trail is ridden counter-clockwise. It remains open after dark to riders with lights, and riding in either direction is permitted at night. Northshore is one of the busiest trails in the region and is shared with hikers and runners — expect traffic on weekend mornings and be ready to yield.

Like most trails in the area, parts of the trail hold water after rain, and the trail closes when wet. Always check the official trail status after rain before visiting. The trail is maintained by DORBA on US Army Corps of Engineers land.

The flowier half of Northshore: four loops of fast XC singletrack along the lake, with occasional features — drops, rocky climbs, and water crossings — breaking up the rhythm. The trail returns lake views throughout, and most features offer a clean line around. A good fit for riders covering miles or building toward the technical west side.

This is the technical side of Northshore. Three loops of rocky limestone singletrack with ledges, steps, steeper climbs, and sustained rock gardens that reward line choice and momentum. Best suited for advanced and stronger riders. Loop 5 is the easiest and mostly intermediate with a few more advanced features. There's a couple mandatory non-rollable drops (2-3ft) that riders should be aware of.
